The shadow side of externalizing trauma. On interpretative frames and reception in a comparative perspective

I denne artikkelen stilles spørsmålet om den vestlige retorikktradisjonens vekt på språklige uttrykk: tale og skrift, har ført til en overvekt av studier av visse former for representasjon av agens, og om dette har skjedd til fortrengsel for en oppmerksomhet om alternative former for kommunikasjon av agens, for eksempel ved hjelp av indirekte agens, humor, underkommunikasjon av pronominalformer eller taushet. Forfatteren hevder at denne vektleggingen er et symptom på en eurosentrisme som kommer til syne både i teoretiske perspektiver og i datatilfang. Ved hjelp av lingvistisk og sosialantropologisk materiale innsamlet i den polynesiske delen av Stillehavet, fra øygruppen Tokelau, vises det hvordan et sosialantropologisk sammenlignende perspektiv kan bidra til å synliggjøre lacuner i den vestlige tradisjons tenkning om kommunikativ praksis.
